Let's Play "Are They Related?"

Alaina 1 month

Owen 1 month

Alaina 2 months

Owen 2 months

First day back to work after having Alaina (10 weeks)

First day back to work after having Owen (12 weeks...I think)

Happy baby in the bumbo. 10 weeks old.

First and last time she got to wear her adorable cherry outfit. She's growing too fast!! 12 weeks old fitting snugly into 6 month sized clothes.

Alaina had her 2 month check-up last week. She weighed 14lbs. 5oz (98%) and was 24 inches long (91%). She is doing great. She loves to sleep. She goes to bed around 8pm and likes to get a good 12 hours in before getting up for the day. She'll get up to eat during the night around 2am and 5am, but is only up for maybe 20 minutes each time, and then will get up again around 8am and stay awake for an hour or two before wanting a nap. Of course, this schedule is getting altered a bit now that she has to leave for daycare at 7am, but she is adjusting very well.

Fun In The Pool

Yesterday was actually sunny and dry so we decided to catch some rays by the inflatable pool.

Owen was a little hesitant at first.

But he eventually realized how fun it would be to get Mommy and Daddy wet.

Owen was begging to go to bed that night. We managed to keep him up until 7:15pm. I love the pool! Granted he was also up at 5am that morning and his afternoon nap was sub par.
As usual, Alaina slept through all the fun.

Her fish mobile on her swing is on its last leg so the fish just hang there. She stares at those fish as if she's trying to make them move with her mind. Then one day last week, they moved. She was thrilled! Only lasted a day though. Poor, deprived second baby.

She's been working on her smiling, but still isn't very consistant. She still mostly looks at us like we are crazy and she is petrified. She will be 6 weeks old tomorrow.

Day Out With Thomas

Saturday we drove up to Green Bay because Thomas was in town celebrating his 65th birthday at the National Railroad Museum. Owen was thrilled. The day included a variety of Thomas-themed activities including stories, videos, arts and crafts, and train tables. The main event was a ride on a train led by Thomas himself.

Not too happy that he could look but not touch these trains.

Enjoying the view out of the open window.

Choo Choo!!

Alaina missed all the fun by sleeping through her first train ride. What a good baby.

The First Three Weeks

Owen has been adjusting very well to his baby sister. He is still quite jealous of all the attention she takes away from him, but he adores her. He tells us when she's crying, gets diapers for her, and always wants to kiss her.

Alaina is a very good baby. She is very mellow and only cries when she's hungry or needs a diaper. She does like to be held though, which is starting to pose some issues during the night as her favorite place to sleep is on her belly on my chest. I can't say that I mind holding her though...

4 days old...

6 days old....

2 weeks old....

She is starting to spend more time awake, but still sleeps an awful lot. She is still sleeping in 3 hour spurts during the night and typically will go right back to sleep after she eats and gets a new diaper. Owen is actually waking up more during the night than she is right now.

16 days old....

19 days old...

3 weeks old...

In other news, Owen has started eating again. This past week he's tried pizza, quesadilla, baked ziti, and a chicken nugget to go along with his standard cuisine of milk, cereal, fruit, and bagels. Now we just have to get some veggies into him and I'll be happy. Luckily, he's not big into sharing right now, so if at first he says no he doesn't want to eat something, all we have to do is say "OK, I'll eat it then," and he becomes very possessive of it and will eat it himself.

As far as potty training goes, he is currently insisting that we change his diaper as soon as it's wet by saying "poopie, poopie!!" When he actually does have a poopie diaper though, he denies it and runs. He will occasionally sit on the potty chair, and actually did go in it yesterday, but for the most part, he says "No thanks" when asked if he wants to sit on it.

Little Sister

Alaina Lynn Schwoch was born Monday, May 17, 2010 at 8:51am. She was 8lbs, 6oz and 20 inches long.

She came out crying and passed her Apgar test with flying colors (first score of 8, second score of 9.)

All clean after her first bath. She really didn't seem to mind her bath, especially getting her hair washed and combed.

Owen wasn't overly thrilled when he first met his little sister. We think he'll come around after thinking about it for awhile. He did really like the Thomas train Alaina got for him.

Alaina has been a very good baby so far (as they usually are in the hospital...) She cluster-feeds in the evenings and then sleeps in 3-4 hour spurts during the night. She weighed 8lbs 1oz on the second morning, and then 7lbs 13oz on both the 3rd and 4th mornings. She only lost a little under 7% of her birth weight which is completely normal.

We were discharged after spending 3 nights in the hospital.

Easter Egg Hunt

Momma and Daddy took me to the Capitol lawn for my first Easter egg hunt. The whole thing took about 30 seconds after they released all the 1-3 year olds. By the time I figured out what I was supposed to be doing, all the eggs had been picked up so I only got one. I was content just watching the other kids run around and seeing the Easter Bunny from afar. When we went to turn in our eggs, they gave me some play-doh, a sucker, and a plastic egg with a toy bunny inside. I put all my loot in my basket and proudly carried it back to the car and held my basket all the way home making sure nothing spilled out.
Momma bought some drumsticks for her and the baby and the wrapper was very appealing to me. It seemed like something I should want, but I just wasn't sure. The night Momma got the last one out of the freezer, she offered it to me, as she always does, and to her disbelief and sadness, I took it and started eating it! She had really wanted that drumstick that night and didn't think I would actually accept her offer to have it. I was very happy with the drumstick in my hand, and was working on eating the nuts and chocolate coating when all of a sudden a big chunk of chocolate came off and some ice cream hit my lips! With a look of utter disgust, I spit out that chocolate coated ice cream and immediately gave the rest of the cone to Momma. She was so happy.

Even just the small amount of sugar I ingested made me silly enough to pose for the camera which is something I never want to do anymore.
