The day Owen was dreading most has come and gone and he survived. (He would say "No two!!" when asked how old he was going to be on his birthday.) He would also say "No birthday," "No cake," and "No presents," all of which he wasn't kidding about. He agreed to sit by his cake while the Happy Birthday song was sung, but did not eat any cake, and was done after opening just two presents. He did try some of his cake almost a week later, and does love all of his new presents...it was just too much pressure and too many people watching during his birthday party!
This truck was the second present he opened after which he wanted no more presents.
He also went in for his two year checkup and is now not even fooled by the waiting room at the doctor's office. In the past, he loved sitting on the couches in the waiting room, people watching and having a snack, and wouldn't start screaming until the nurse called his name. This time he would not take off his coat or hat, and eventually started sobbing and needed to rest his head on my shoulder. And then the nurse called him back and the screamfest started all through her measurments and questions and lasted until the doctor left and we told him it was time to go. He has gone from a giant 95 percentile baby to a 25-50 percentile 2 year old. He weighed 28lbs 4oz and was 33 1/2 inches tall.
